Oxfam Denmark is the Danish branch of one of the world\u2019s most influential civil society organisations, Oxfam. We manage development projects worth more than 300 million DKK annually and have a team of 60 employees based at our office right next to Copenhagen City Hall Square.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are part of an international confederation of 20 organisations working together with partners and local communities in more than 90 countries. All our work is guided by three core values: Empowerment, Accountability, and Inclusiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intern at Oxfam Denmark<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Oxfam Denmark offers an internship programme that gives students the opportunity to spend between three and six months at our Copenhagen office. The aim of the programme is to create an exchange of knowledge and experience between Danish students and Oxfam Denmark staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students often bring valuable theoretical knowledge that can greatly benefit the organisation. At the same time, as a student, you gain a unique opportunity to put your knowledge into practice and develop a deeper understanding of development issues and work in the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internship positions are advertised twice a year, in March\/April and September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Location<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The internship will take place at our headquarters near Copenhagen City Hall. Our address is Vesterbrogade 2B, 1620 Copenhagen V.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internship Assignments at Oxfam Denmark<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

An internship may consist of a clearly defined project specifically tailored to the intern. Examples include conducting research or analysis, gathering documentation on a specific topic, developing and producing educational materials, or carrying out an evaluation. In addition, there may be a variety of ad hoc tasks, providing valuable hands-on experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internships can be relevant to students from many academic backgrounds, such as communications, development studies, anthropology, political science, agriculture, public administration, gender studies, education, pedagogy, economics, or business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an intern at Oxfam Denmark, you will be assigned to a department and paired with a contact person who will provide guidance and support throughout the internship. Please note that Oxfam Denmark does not offer financial compensation for internships. The only benefit provided is a free vegetarian or vegan lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Requirements for Interns<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Applicants must be enrolled as students and have completed a bachelor\u2019s degree or equivalent. In certain cases, students who have not yet finished their bachelor\u2019s degree may be accepted if they have relevant experience or skills that can compensate for this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interns must reside in Denmark or be enrolled at a Danish university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Application Process<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Applications for advertised internships should include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • A cover letter describing your qualifications for the internship and your ideas for how you would approach the tasks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Your CV.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Any other relevant documentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Applications must be submitted via Oxfam Denmark\u2019s recruitment system, which will be linked in the internship postings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Selection of Interns<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    If you are interested in becoming an intern, you must upload your application via Oxfam Denmark\u2019s recruitment system. The relevant department will review the applications and invite selected candidates for an interview at our headquarters. Selection will be based on this interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Preparing for the Internship<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Once an intern has been selected, Oxfam Denmark and the intern will prepare and sign an internship agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Some interns may wish to use their internship experience as part of their thesis work. In such cases, it is important to set clear boundaries between internship duties and thesis work. If significant thesis work is planned, this should ideally be done after the internship period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Internship Period<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Each intern will have a contact person in their assigned department who is responsible for professional and practical communication during the internship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    It is important to clarify mutual expectations at the outset. This includes working relationships, the level of independence expected, and the nature of the tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In general, interns are expected to work independently and academically, while the office\/project provides practical support. One or more check-in meetings between the intern, the contact person, and relevant colleagues are recommended during the internship to ensure alignment. Internships often provide opportunities for a meaningful exchange of theoretical and professional knowledge between the intern and Oxfam Denmark staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Interns typically produce a written report for the office\/project. It is also recommended that interns give an oral presentation of their work at a meeting before the internship concludes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
